Paducah, KY at a Glance
Named in the honor of the Padouca Indians in Kentucky,
Paducah enjoys a strategic location at the convergence of the mighty Ohio
and Tennessee
Rivers. Situated north of Nashville,
near the Tennessee-Tombigbee
Waterway, Paducah captures the southern charm and boasts the Land
Between The Lakes. Every year, over two million visitors flock to this area
to enjoy hiking, mountain biking, horseback trails, camping, hunting and fishing.
Families also tour the Woodlands
Nature Station or discover the Golden
Ponds Park and Nature Area and venture along a stretch of scenic coastline
for exceptional wildlife scenery. During eleven painting sessions, Paducah's
talented artists and muralist Robert Dafford depicted the city's rich history
in murals on panels of the town's floodwall, making the murals a must see area.
Visitors can discover the rebirth of quilt making since the 1970s in the Museum
of the American Quilter's Society galleries or enjoy the original artwork
of 110 local artists (varying from oil to acrylic, watercolor, pastel and collage
pieces) at the PAPA Gallery.
